As the successor of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Contemporary Research on Latin America, our Vienna-based institute was founded in 2006 in order to “promote interdisciplinary research, cooperation and teaching in the field of interculturality with the countries of the Global South”. We are considered to be among the most renowned experts in autonomy processes around the world, particularly with regard to the indigenous cultures of Latin America.
